Top ranked Alabama defeated Mississippi State this past Saturday. The Tide finished the game 51-3 over the Bulldogs, remaining No. 1 in the national rankings.
No. 2 Clemson lost to Pittsburg by one point, ending the game 43-42 after a Pittsburg field goal put them ahead with six seconds remaining in the game.
No. 3 Michigan fell in similar fashion to Iowa, losing the game 14-13, and No. 4 Washington lost to South Carolina, 26-13.
At a press conference, Alabama Coach Nick Saban was asked if these losses sent a message to the Crimson Tide.
“I think the message is that when you win, that you control your own destiny,” Saban said. “When you don’t, you allow somebody else to determine what your fate is going to be.”
Saban said that he is focusing on preparing for the next game. The Tide plays Chattanooga this Saturday.
“Chattanooga is a very well coached team,” Saban said. “They’re one of the top teams in their division. This is a game that we need to focus on what we need to do technically to get better as a team and try to go out and play our best game and build on what we did in the last game.”
