RICHARD SCOTT

Richard Scott is the Chief Meteorologist for WVUA 23. Watch Richard Monday through Friday on WVUA 23 News @ 5, 6 and 10.

Richard started at WVUA 23 in 2006 as a weather intern, then he became the weekend meteorologist in 2007. After graduating from Mississippi State University in 2010, Richard took the role of weekend meteorologist and weekday news producer. In 2011, Richard was promoted to the Chief Meteorologist title and continues to serve that title to this day.

Richard is a native of Linden, Alabama. Growing up in west Alabama, he understands the changeable weather local to our area, which helps him strive in forecasting weather for Alabama. Richard has covered numerous tornado events, including the historic and deadly tornado outbreak of April 27, 2011 and the historic tornado outbreak of April 28, 2014.

In March 2012, Richard was named Best Weather Anchor by the Alabama Associated Press. In the Spring of 2012, Richard was awarded the seal of approval from the National Weather Association.

Aside from weather, Richard enjoys hobbies such as fishing, hunting and watching Alabama football.
