Philip Coleman is the WVUA 23 News @ 6 anchor, Monday through Friday.
Philip came to WVUA 23 in January 1998 after working at WCFT-TV Channel 33 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama as the weekend anchor/producer, weekday reporter/photographer and community affairs talk-show host.
Prior to that he worked as a reporter for WKRG-TV Channel 5 in Mobile, Alabama.
He came to WKRG-TV from KOB-TV Channel 4 where he was early-morning news anchor and a reporter. Philip was also a reporter for WAAY-TV Channel 31 in Huntsville, Alabama. Philip began his career in broadcast journalism in radio at WTBC AM-WUOA FM in Tuscaloosa where he worked as a news anchor/reporter and community affairs talk-show host.
A Tuscaloosa native, Philip graduated from the University of Alabama in 1978 with a B. A. Degree in Broadcast and Film Communication. He earned a Masters Degree in Telecommunication and Film from the University of Alabama in 2000. During his graduate work at the University of Alabama, Philip was inducted into Kappa Tau Alpha, the National Honor Society of Journalism and Mass Communication.
In his career Philip has earned several awards including Alabama Associated Press Best Reporter 1988, Alabama Associated Press Best Investigative Reporting 2001, Alabama Associated Press Best Series 2001 and Alabama Associated Press Best Documentary 2003.
