Lynn Brooks is the News Director and WVUA 23 News @ 5 anchor. She also hosts the legal call-in show Law Call.  Lynn also serves as anchor/host for special programs, such as the University of Alabama Homecoming Parade, featuring Terry Saban.

Lynn has received numerous awards, including several EMMY nominations.   Her unscripted anchoring during the aftermath of the 2011 Tuscaloosa Tornado was recognized with a “Television Craftsperson” EMMY nomination from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.  She also has EMMY nominations for the documentary, Faces of the Storm.  Twice, Lynn was named “Associated Press Best News Reporter,” and won “Best Spot News Story.”  Lynn’s work has been featured on several networks, including CNN, BBC, ESPN2, and The Weather Channel.

Because of her work as a mentor and a broadcaster, Lynn was named The University of Alabama’s Outstanding Alumna of the Year for Telecommunication & Film graduates in the College of Communication & Information Sciences.  The city of Tuscaloosa also recognized Lynn’s commitment to the community, by declaring September 20th as “Lynn Brooks Day.”

In her spare time, Lynn enjoys deep sea fishing and adventure travel.
